Long Adds Further Depth to Firm's Strong Tax and Corporate Practices

Manning, Fulton & Skinner, P.A. (“Manning Fulton”) is pleased to announce that venerable tax and employee benefits expert, Steven B. Long, has joined the Firm’s Tax Practice.  His addition strengthens Manning Fulton’s Tax Practice as well as its expanding Corporate Practice.

Long brings expertise in tax and ERISA to assist the Firm in counseling clients regarding retirement plans, deferred compensation arrangements and employee benefits issues, which frequently arise in corporate mergers and acquisitions.  Long also brings to Manning Fulton his market-leading skill counseling clients in the formation and operation of public charities and other tax-exempt organizations.  Long’s tax practice includes assisting individuals in structuring tax-efficient estate plans, including business ownership succession plans involving ESOPs and other tools.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Georgetown University Law Center, Long has 26 years’ experience adding significant value to businesses and individuals by helping them successfully navigate the frequent regulatory changes to their tax-qualified employee benefits and executive compensation programs, and also to plan efficient individual tax and estate strategies.

For his dedication and expertise in both tax and employee benefits matters, Long has been routinely recognized in the legal industry’s most respected peer-review publications, including Woodward/White’s The Best Lawyers in America (“Best Lawyers”), North Carolina Super Lawyers and Business North Carolina magazine’s “Legal Elite.”  Most recently, Long was recognized as Best Lawyers 2017 “Lawyer of the Year” for Employee Benefits Law in the Raleigh-Durham area.

Long currently serves on the Board of Governors for the University of North Carolina, as well as the Board of Directors for Alzheimer’s North Carolina, Inc.  He has also served on the Board of the Raleigh Hall of Fame, as President of the Triangle Benefits Forum and as past Chairman of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Tax Section.

I am pleased to join the highly regarded tax and corporate attorneys at Manning Fulton, most of whom I have known for years.  The Firm has increased significantly its work in tax and corporate transactions and I look forward to being part of a strong team” says Long.

Long joins an already deep bench of seasoned tax and estate planning experts at Manning Fulton.  The Firm is proud to have so many leading authorities among its tax and estate planning ranks, including Board Certified Specialists, a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel (ACTC), three Fellows of the American College of Trust & Estate Counsel (ACTEC), six Chairs of the North Carolina Bar Association’s (“NCBA’s”) Tax Section, two Chairs of the NCBA’s Estate Planning Section and six Certified Public Accountants.
